Market Update

Gold Hits Fresh All-Time High:

Gold surged over 3% to surpass $2,100 before retracing some gains, reaching new all-time highs. This rally is attributed to growing expectations that the US Federal Reserve will maintain current interest rates at this month’s meeting and might consider rate cuts in the coming year.

Canadian dollar

The Bank of Canada is expected to keep existing interest rates unchanged, reflecting indications of inflation gradually moderating in the country and signs of a loosening labor market.

Japanese yen

The Japanese yen strengthened beyond 147 per dollar, marking its highest level in 12 weeks.

Dollar index

The dollar index stabilized above 103 as investors continued to evaluate the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy outlook.

Turkish lira

USDTRY reached an all-time high of 29.035.

Turkey’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 62% in November 2023, exceeding October’s 61.4% and slightly below market forecasts of 63%.

Crude Oil

WTI crude futures dipped below $74 per barrel, marking the third consecutive session of decline. The pressure persists due to uncertainty surrounding OPEC+ voluntary output cuts and a dimming global demand outlook.

Crypto

Bitcoin exceeded $41,000, while Ethereum (ETHUSD) rose above $2,243 USD.
